IS 12406 specifies the requirements for medium-density fibreboard (MDF) used for general purposes in dry, humid and exterior conditions. The standard governs density grade, internal-bond strength, modulus of rupture, swelling, formaldehyde emission and surface quality for plain and veneered panels.
