IS 17609 specifies the requirements for the broad family of twines, cordage and ropes of sisal, polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon, viscose and coir, together with related made-up netting. The standard governs linear density, breaking strength, elongation, ultraviolet resistance and the construction-class designation of finished cordage.
