IS 2553 prescribes the optical, mechanical and impact-resistance requirements for safety glass — toughened and laminated — used in vehicles, aircraft, vessels, building glazing and bullet-resistant applications. The standard covers windscreens, side windows, rear windows and bullet-proof glass classified under Chapters 70 and 87 of the Customs Tariff.
