IS 16221 prescribes the safety requirements for adjustable-speed electrical power drive systems, including the converter, motor, controls and auxiliary equipment supplied as a packaged drive. The standard, aligned with IEC 61800-5-1, addresses electrical, thermal and energy-hazard safety of power-electronic conversion equipment.
