IS 16169 prescribes the safety requirements for static inverters connected to the public mains supply and used in stand-alone or grid-tie photovoltaic, UPS and back-up applications. The standard, aligned with IEC 62109, governs shock, fire and protective-bonding safety of inverter electronics and enclosures.
