IS 16046 prescribes the safety requirements for sealed secondary cells and batteries, including lead-acid starter, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal-hydride, lithium-ion and other rechargeable accumulator chemistries. The standard, aligned with IEC 62133, addresses electrical, mechanical and thermal abuse conditions for portable applications.
