The single most common error on this tariff line is registering against IS 13252 (Part 1):2010 or IS 616:2017 without tracking the concurrent-running expiry dates — set-top boxes lose the IS 13252/IS 616 safe harbour on 01 May 2026, while other goods in the Order retain it until 01 November 2028. An importer whose supplier's R-number is anchored to a withdrawn standard after the expiry date faces detention and a fresh certification cycle on a consignment already at port. Does a single Compulsory Registration Scheme R-number cover all product models from the same manufacturer?

No. The R-number is model-specific; product variants outside the registered model code are not covered, and a model-code mismatch with the BIS register at customs triggers detention of the consignment.
