- 2Verify applicability of the Tariff Rate Quota for copper products under Chapter 74 and CTH 8544 allocated under the revised India-Nepal Treaty. If importing under TRQ, ensure allocation and monitoring compliance under Para 2.92 of the Handbook of Procedures 2023 as notified by DGFT as the designated authority.DGFT Public Notice 17/2023 dated 22-06-2023 · Para 2.92 of the HBP 2023
The most common error on this tariff line is misreading the abolition of the 5-day advance-notice minimum as an exemption from NFMIMS registration altogether. Registration remains compulsory for every consignment under Annexure-I (copper) of the NFMIMS framework; the only change effected by DGFT Notification 26/2016-20 and S.O. 3759(E) is that the registration may now be submitted at any point before arrival rather than five days in advance. A bill of entry filed without a valid, current NFMIMS registration number is liable to detention and demurrage at the port of import.
