Copper and articles thereof
Copper and articles fabricated from copper and its alloys
HSN Chapter 74 covers copper and articles fabricated from copper and its alloys. Within this chapter the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has notified 10 tariff lines spanning headings 7412 (pipe fittings of copper), 7418 (table, kitchen and household articles) and 7419 (other articles of copper). The notified lines include refined-copper fittings, tube-well strainers, hose connectors, bronze fittings, copper-alloy household articles, and reservoirs and tanks of copper.
Two Indian Standards govern the chapter: IS 2692, which specifies dimensional and material requirements for wrought copper and copper-alloy pipe fittings, and IS 17803, which covers copper and copper-alloy articles used for household and similar end uses. All 10 codes fall under the ISI Mark Scheme (Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations, 2018). Indian manufacturers must hold a CM/L licence; foreign manufacturers shipping these articles into India must obtain certification under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS) and appoint an Authorised Indian Representative (AIR).
