- 3For imports of copper products under Chapter 74 and CTH 8544 originating from Nepal under the India-Nepal Treaty, confirm Tariff Rate Quota allocation from DGFT as the designated authority. The TRQ covers 10,000 MT of copper products for the relevant financial year and is governed by Para 2.92 of the Handbook of Procedures 2023.DGFT Public Notice 17/2023 dated 22-06-2023, Paras i to xv · Handbook of Procedures 2023, Para 2.92
The most common error on this tariff line is filing the bill of entry without a live NFMIMS registration number — either because the importer applied after vessel arrival or because the 75-day validity lapsed before the bill of entry was filed. The registration window opens 60 days before expected arrival and closes at arrival; a consignment arriving with an expired or absent NFMIMS number is liable to detention pending regularisation, and no retrospective registration is available under the current NFMIMS framework.
