- 2Note that the minimum advance-registration window of 5 days before arrival has been abolished — registration may be applied for and granted on the same day as arrival. Ensure the NFMIMS registration number is available at the bill of entry stage for customs verification.S.O. 3759(E) · DGFT Notification 26/2016-20 dated 10-08-2022 · DGFT Policy Circular 42/2015-2020 dated 27-07-2022
- 3Where the import involves copper products (Chapter 74 or CTH 8544) under the India-Nepal TRQ for FY 2023-24, obtain a TRQ allocation from DGFT as the designated authority and comply with the revised allocation and monitoring procedure under Para 2.92 of the Handbook of Procedures (HBP) 2023.DGFT Public Notice 17/2023 dated 22-06-2023, Para (i) to (xv) · HBP 2023, Para 2.92
The most common error on this tariff line is filing the bill of entry without a valid NFMIMS registration number, treating the abolition of the 5-day minimum advance window as eliminating the registration obligation entirely. NFMIMS registration remains compulsory regardless of that procedural relaxation — an unregistered consignment will be held at customs pending regularisation, attracting detention, demurrage, and ground rent. The 75-day validity window also means that a registration obtained too early lapses before the vessel arrives, requiring a fresh application and a second ₹500 fee.
