IS 5676 specifies the requirements for solid PVC soles and heels for footwear, covering compound composition, hardness, abrasion resistance, tear strength and bond strength when used as the wearing surface of leather and synthetic footwear. The standard governs moulded polyvinyl chloride sole and heel components.
