IS 4505 specifies the requirements for sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate (Rongalite) used as a reducing agent in vat-dye printing, polymerisation and pharmaceutical synthesis. The standard prescribes assay, iron content, sulphite limit and free-formaldehyde bounds for technical grades.
