IS 17980 specifies the requirements for parts of electrical transformers and static converters, including cold-rolled grain-oriented and non-oriented electrical steel laminations, core stacks and other components governed by composition and magnetic-loss criteria. The standard governs material grade, lamination thickness, insulation coating, stacking factor and core-loss limits.
