Within this chapter the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has notified 15 tariff lines spanning safety glass for automotive use (heading 8708), complete bicycles (heading 8712), and bicycle and two-wheeler parts (heading 8714). All 15 codes carry the ISI Mark Scheme designation under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations, 2018.
The controlling standards are IS 2553 for safety glass (automotive windscreens and windows), IS 10613 for bicycle frames and complete bicycles, and IS 9436 and IS 16192 for road wheels and pneumatic-tyre wheel components. Indian manufacturers of any covered product must hold a CM/L licence under the ISI Mark Scheme; foreign manufacturers shipping into India must obtain a licence under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS) through an Authorised Indian Representative (AIR).
