The single most common error on this tariff line is assuming the BIS QCO obligation extends uniformly to all non-electrical luminaires and lighting fittings classifiable under HSN 9405 50 00. The Flashlight (Quality Control) Order, 2025 has a product-specific scope limited to flashlights as defined therein; importers of other non-electrical lighting products may be outside the IS 2083 QCO scope while still being subject to the LED luminaire IS 10322 series under the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021.
