Parts of medical, surgical, dental or veterinary furniture
HSN 9402 90 20 (Parts of medical, surgical, dental or veterinary furniture) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17 May 2025 introduced Para 19 into the General Notes of the ITC (HS) 2022, imposing port restrictions on imports of certain goods from Bangladesh to India.
- Import policy declaration from DGFT
- Port compliance documentation from CBIC
- 1Determine whether the consignment originates from Bangladesh. If so, verify applicability of Para 19 of the General Notes under the ITC (HS) 2022 as introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17 May 2025, and ensure the consignment is routed only through a port listed in Para 1 of that notification.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 · General Notes Para 19, ITC (HS) 2022
- 2Check whether the specific goods qualify under the exemptions in Para 2 or Para 3 of DGFT Notification 7/2025-26. Exempt consignments must carry documentation confirming the applicable exemption category at the bill of entry to avoid detention at a non-designated port.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 · General Notes Para 19, ITC (HS) 2022
The Bangladesh-origin port restriction under Para 19 applies selectively: consignments that appear eligible for the Para 2 or Para 3 exemptions must carry explicit exemption documentation at the bill of entry stage. Arriving at a non-designated port without that documentation — even where the goods would ultimately qualify for an exemption — exposes the consignment to detention and demurrage while the DGFT policy position is adjudicated. Confirm port eligibility before vessel departure, not at the customs examination stage.
