HSN 9017 80 10 (Measuring rods and tapes and divided scales) is subject to Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) registration under G.S.R. 102(E) dated 11-02-2020 issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) where the product qualifies as a listed medical device. Legal Metrology registration and product-approval certification under Sections 19, 20 and 22 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 apply concurrently for fabric, plastic, folding and steel tape measures and non-flexible length measures.

   Where the consignment comprises measuring instruments listed in G.S.R. 102(E) dated 11-02-2020 as medical devices, obtain CDSCO registration before the bill of entry. The registration certificate must be current and available for verification by the proper officer at port.

   For fabric tape measures, plastic tape measures, folding scales, non-flexible length measures and steel tape measures, verify Legal Metrology registration and product-approval certificates under Sections 19, 20 and 22 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and Rules 11 to 15 (Sixth Schedule) of the Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011 as amended. Upload the certificate of registration of importer of weights and measures (document code 101lm1) in e-Sanchit before out-of-charge.
