- 1Source only from a Bureau of Indian Standards CM/L-licensed manufacturer holding a current licence against IS 302-2-76:1999 for electric fence energizers. Verify the supplier's CM/L number, licensed product scope, and manufacturing facility address on the BIS online register before placing the purchase order.Electric Fence Energizers (Quality Control) Order, 2024 · S.O. 4958(E) dated 14-11-2024
- 2Ensure each energizer bears the ISI mark and the supplier's CM/L number per Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The standard mark must appear on the product itself, not on packaging alone.Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018 · Electric Fence Energizers (Quality Control) Order, 2024
- 3Note the staggered enforcement dates: general enterprises (other than micro and small) from 19-05-2025; small enterprises from 19-08-2025; micro enterprises from 19-05-2026. Confirm your supplier's enterprise classification and apply the corresponding effective date when assessing compliance.Electric Fence Energizers (Quality Control) Order, 2024 · S.O. 4958(E) dated 14-11-2024 · Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006)

- 5Quote the supplier's BIS CM/L number and, where required, the CPCB EPR authorisation number on the bill of entry. Customs verifies the CM/L in real time against the BIS register; an absent, expired, or scope-mismatched licence triggers consignment detention.Electric Fence Energizers (Quality Control) Order, 2024 · BIS Act, 2016 · Customs Act, 1962
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming a generic IS 302 (Part 2) household-appliances CM/L covers electric fence energizers. IS 302-2-76:1999 is a part-specific standard for electric fence energizers; a supplier's CM/L against a different Part-2 sub-part (for example, washing machines or water heaters) does not satisfy the Electric Fence Energizers (Quality Control) Order, 2024, and customs will detain the consignment on a scope mismatch. Verify that the CM/L explicitly names IS 302-2-76:1999 and the energizer product family before shipment.
