Machinery
Presses, crushers and similar beverage-manufacturing machinery
HSN 8435 10 00 (presses, crushers and similar machinery used in the manufacture of wine, cider, fruit juices or similar beverages) is not covered by a Bureau of Indian Standards Quality Control Order and carries no Partner Government Agency clearance requirement at the tariff-line level. Import follows the standard customs procedure: Importer-Exporter Code, bill of entry, commercial invoice, packing list. Importers should note that Chapter 84 contains numerous machinery tariff lines that do carry compliance obligations, and misclassification into or out of heading 8435 can expose an importer to retrospective duties.
Chapter 84 is one of the most densely regulated chapters in the Indian customs tariff; while heading 8435 itself carries no current Quality Control Order, neighbouring headings covering general industrial machinery, food-processing equipment, or electrically driven appliances may attract BIS compliance or other agency notifications. Re-classification by customs — for instance, where a multi-function machine is assessed as falling under a different heading — triggers retrospective compliance and potential detention. Confirm the technical specification and primary function of the equipment against the tariff descriptor before filing the bill of entry.
