The most common error on this tariff line is importing units that pre-date the Regulations and assuming the BEE labelling obligation attaches only to domestic manufacture. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Appliance Labeling and Compliance) Regulations, 2026 apply at the point of import regardless of the country of origin or date of manufacture; a consignment cleared without a conforming energy label is subject to detention and may not receive out-of-charge until full compliance is demonstrated to the customs proper officer.
