The most common error on this tariff line is filing the bill of entry without a valid NFMIMS registration number — either because the importer was unaware of the NFMIMS obligation for finished copper articles such as chain, or because the 75-day validity window lapsed between registration and actual vessel arrival. The registration number is consignment-specific and tied to the expected arrival date; a consignment arriving outside the validity window requires a fresh registration before out-of-charge can be granted.
