The most common error on this tariff line is applying for NFMIMS registration after the vessel has already departed, rather than treating registration as a pre-shipment obligation. The advance-registration minimum has been reduced to zero days (from five days) — meaning same-day registration at arrival is technically permitted — but the registration must exist before out-of-charge; a bill of entry filed without a valid NFMIMS number attracts customs detention until the automatic registration number is produced. The 75-day validity window means consignments subject to shipping delays must be monitored for expiry.
