Copper screws, bolts and nuts (other types)
HSN 7415 33 90 (Other copper screws, bolts and nuts) is governed by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the India-Nepal Treaty Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) regime for copper products. DGFT is the designated authority for allocation and monitoring of the 10,000 MT annual TRQ for Chapter 74 copper products under DGFT Public Notice 17/2023 and Para 2.92 of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023.
- TRQ allocation letter from DGFT
- Import Licence from DGFT
- Chapter 74 qualifiers from CBIC
- 1Verify whether the consignment falls within the India-Nepal Treaty TRQ for copper products. If importing under TRQ, obtain a DGFT TRQ allocation covering Chapter 74 copper articles for the relevant financial year, as DGFT is the designated authority for allocation and monitoring of the 10,000 MT TRQ under DGFT Public Notice 17/2023.DGFT Public Notice 17/2023 dated 22-06-2023, para (i) to (xv); Para 2.92 of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023
- 2At the bill of entry, upload the DGFT TRQ allocation letter and any associated import licence in e-Sanchit. Confirm the cumulative quantity imported under the TRQ does not exceed the 10,000 MT annual cap for Chapter 74 and CTH 8544 combined for the financial year.DGFT Public Notice 17/2023 dated 22-06-2023; Para 2.92 of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023
The most common error on this tariff line is importing copper screws and bolts under the India-Nepal Treaty TRQ without first securing a DGFT allocation — the TRQ is not self-executing, and a consignment arriving at customs without a valid allocation letter is treated as an unauthorised excess-quantity import, attracting detention and potential re-export. The 10,000 MT cap covers all Chapter 74 copper products and CTH 8544 collectively, so partial consumption by other copper sub-headings in the same FY can exhaust the quota before this line is assessed.
