- 1Register the consignment on the NFMIMS online portal before the import consignment arrives, paying a registration fee of ₹500. The minimum advance-registration window of 5 days prior to arrival has been abolished under S.O. 3759(E).DGFT Notification 61/2015-2020 dated 31-03-2021 · DGFT Notification 26/2016-20 dated 10-08-2022 · S.O. 3759(E)
- 2For any consignment imported under the India-Nepal Treaty TRQ allocation of 10,000 MT of copper products (Chapter 74 and CTH 8544) for the relevant financial year, obtain prior TRQ allocation from DGFT as the designated authority. Ensure compliance with the revised allocation and monitoring procedure under paragraphs (i) to (xv) of DGFT Public Notice 17/2023 and Para 2.92 of the Handbook of Procedures 2023.DGFT Public Notice 17/2023 dated 22-06-2023 · DGFT Policy Circular 42/2015-2020 dated 27-07-2022
The most common error on this tariff line is misreading the abolition of the 5-day minimum advance-registration window as an exemption from NFMIMS registration altogether. Registration remains compulsory for every import consignment; only the mandatory lead-time buffer has been removed. A bill of entry filed without a valid NFMIMS automatic registration number in the system will be held by customs pending regularisation, attracting demurrage and ground rent while the portal registration is completed retrospectively.
