The most common error on this tariff line is filing the bill of entry without a valid NFMIMS registration number, treating NFMIMS as a post-arrival formality. Registration must precede consignment arrival; an unregistered consignment is detained at port pending regularisation, accruing demurrage and ground rent. The TRQ overlay under the India-Nepal Treaty is a separate compliance track — NFMIMS registration does not substitute for TRQ allocation where the consignment origin and quantity bring it within the Chapter 74 quota.
