The most common error on this tariff line is importing copper wire-bars at general Restricted-policy rates without first determining whether the consignment qualifies — and is capped — under the India-Nepal Treaty TRQ allocation. TRQ volumes are finite and DGFT-monitored: shipments arriving after the 10,000 MT FY ceiling is exhausted without a general-policy licence attract consignment detention and potential confiscation. Confirm TRQ availability and obtain the DGFT allocation letter before the purchase order is placed.
