The most common error on this tariff line is applying for NFMIMS registration too close to or after vessel arrival. The registration window opens no earlier than 60 days before the expected arrival date, and although the 5-day minimum advance requirement has been abolished, an unregistered consignment at the point of bill-of-entry filing is treated as a NFMIMS non-compliance — resulting in detention and demurrage while registration is retrospectively pursued. The 75-day validity of the registration number must also be tracked against actual arrival; an expired registration number at the time of out-of-charge triggers fresh registration and potential delay.
