Parts of air heaters and hot air distributors
Parts of iron or steel air heaters and hot air distributors
HSN 7322 90 90 (Parts of air heaters and hot air distributors) is subject to compulsory advance registration under the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS) administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), per Policy Condition No. 2 of Chapter 73 and DGFT Notification 33/2015-20 dated 28-09-2020. An automatic registration number must be obtained online by paying a fee of ₹500, and the registration remains valid for 75 days from grant.
- SIMS automatic registration number from DGFT
- ITC (HS) policy compliance from DGFT
Procedural directions for customs clearance are issued by: Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
- 1Apply for SIMS registration through the DGFT online portal not earlier than the 60th day before the expected date of arrival of the consignment. Pay the registration fee of ₹500 to obtain the automatic registration number, which remains valid for 75 days.DGFT Notification 33/2015-20 dated 28-09-2020 · DGFT Notification 28/23 dated 28-08-2023 · Policy Condition No. 2, Chapter 73
- 2Confirm whether the importation falls within a recognised SIMS exemption before filing the bill of entry. Re-imports of steel items solely for packaging (without value addition) and DTA-SEZ-DTA movements — both with and without value addition — do not require SIMS registration.DGFT Policy Circular 38/2015-20 dated 19-01-2022 · DGFT Notification 19/2015-20 dated 07-07-2022
The most common error on this tariff line is applying for the SIMS registration too late. The 15-day minimum advance-registration requirement was abolished by DGFT Notification 19/2015-20 dated 07-07-2022, but the registration window still opens no earlier than 60 days before expected arrival, and the automatic number expires after 75 days — a consignment delayed at the origin port can arrive after the registration has lapsed, triggering detention at the Indian port pending fresh registration.
