HSN 7321 11 10 (cookers and kitchen stoves for gas fuel or for both gas and other fuels) is covered by multiple Bureau of Indian Standards Quality Control Orders. Conformity to IS 2787, IS 10109, or IS 1342 is mandatory under the ISI Mark Scheme for oil-pressure stoves, while IS 17153:2019 governs domestic gas stoves for piped natural gas with effect from 12 February 2024, and IS 4246:2002 applies to domestic gas stoves for liquefied petroleum gases. Steel Import Monitoring System registration and Bureau of Energy Efficiency labelling apply as separate customs-clearance overlays.

- 4Register the consignment on the Steel Import Monitoring System portal, obtaining an automatic registration number by paying the ₹500 fee. Apply no earlier than 60 days before the expected arrival date; the registration remains valid for 75 days. The single most common error on this tariff line is treating the multiple QCO notifications as interchangeable and sourcing a CM/L under one IS standard while importing a product that falls squarely under another — for example, importing piped-natural-gas stoves against a supplier's IS 2787 (multi-burner oil-pressure) licence. Each fuel type and burner configuration maps to a distinct Indian Standard and a distinct QCO notification; a CM/L is scope-specific to the standard and product variant endorsed on the face of the licence, and customs detention follows automatically on a scope mismatch, irrespective of whether the supplier holds a BIS licence for a different stove type.
