A word of counsel

The most common error on this tariff line is treating all three IS standards as interchangeable and sourcing against a single CM/L that covers only one cylinder type. A CM/L against IS 7285 (Part 1) does not authorise import of quenched-and-tempered cylinders covered by IS 7285 (Part 2), and neither covers welded low-carbon cylinders under IS 7142. Customs and PESO both verify scope at point of import; a cylinder type outside the licensed IS and part triggers detention and may constitute an offence under the Explosives Act, 1884.
