The most common error on this tariff line is allowing the SIMS registration number to lapse before the vessel arrives. The 75-day validity window runs from the date the automatic number is granted — not from the shipment date — and a consignment arriving against an expired SIMS registration is detained at port pending fresh registration, during which demurrage and ground rent accrue. Apply as close to the 60-day advance window as possible, and build a buffer for any vessel delay.
