The most frequent error on this tariff line is allowing the 75-day validity window to lapse between SIMS registration and actual vessel arrival. Because the minimum-15-day advance-registration requirement has been abolished, importers sometimes apply very early — only to find the registration has expired before the consignment clears customs — triggering detention and fresh registration. Apply no earlier than necessary within the 60-day window and align the expected arrival date with the bill of lading before submitting the SIMS application.
