Tinted
Tinted float glass or polished glass, in sheets
HSN 7005 29 10 (tinted float glass and surface ground or polished glass, in sheets) is not covered by a Bureau of Indian Standards Quality Control Order and carries no Partner Government Agency clearance requirement at the tariff-line level. Import follows the standard customs procedure: Importer-Exporter Code (IEC), bill of entry, commercial invoice, packing list. Other glass products within Chapter 70 — particularly safety glass, wired glass, or glass with specific optical coatings — may be classified under sibling tariff lines that carry compliance obligations.
The absence of compliance at this tariff line does not extend to all sheet glass products: glass that has been further worked — tempered, laminated, or coated with a reflecting or anti-reflecting layer — may fall under different headings within Chapter 70 and attract BIS or other compliance. Re-classification on customs examination triggers retrospective compliance, including detention pending the relevant certification. Confirm that the product is genuinely not further worked and that the tinting is inherent to the glass rather than applied as a surface treatment.
