Hosiery and socks of other textile materials
HSN 6115 99 90 (hosiery of other textile materials) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), requiring a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes under General Note 10. DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17 May 2025 introduces port restrictions on imports of certain goods from Bangladesh that may apply to this tariff line.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- ITC (HS) policy compliance from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Testing for azo dyes is exempted only for imports originating from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2If importing from Bangladesh, verify applicability of the port restrictions introduced under Para 19 of the General Notes to ITC (HS) 2022 by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025. Review Para 1 for port restrictions, and Paras 2 and 3 for exempted goods before routing the consignment.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025, Para 19 of General Notes, ITC (HS) 2022
The azo-dye testing exemption is origin-specific and narrow: it applies only to the nine listed countries and covers azo-dye testing alone — the Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate for other composition and safety parameters remains mandatory for all origins. Presenting a test report limited to azo-dye parameters for a non-exempt origin, or omitting the PSIC altogether in the belief that the fabric is a minor accessory item, will result in consignment detention at the port pending rectification.
