Hosiery and socks of other textile materials
HSN 6115 29 90 (Other hosiery of other textile materials) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), with a mandatory Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) covering prohibited azo-dye absence under General Note 10. DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17 May 2025 introduces additional port restrictions for imports originating from Bangladesh.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- Port-compliance declaration from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Azo-dye testing is exempted only for imports from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2For consignments originating from Bangladesh, verify compliance with the port restrictions and any exemptions set out in paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of General Note 19, introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26. File the bill of entry only at a permitted port and retain documentary evidence of the applicable exemption category, if claimed.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 · General Note 19 of the ITC (HS) 2022
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming the PSIC exemption for listed countries extends to all documentation requirements — it covers azo-dye testing only; the PSIC for other prohibited hazardous dyes and composition parameters remains required from all origins. Separately, importers sourcing from Bangladesh who rely on an exemption under General Note 19 must document the exemption ground at the time of filing; a post-clearance claim is not accepted and can result in consignment detention at the port of entry.
