Of synthetic fibre
Knitted or crocheted swimwear of synthetic fibre
HSN 6112 41 00 (swimwear of synthetic fibre) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), requiring a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate confirming the absence of prohibited azo dyes under General Note 10. DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17 May 2025 introduces port restrictions for imports from Bangladesh that may apply as an additional overlay.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- Port-compliance declaration from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Testing for azo dyes is exempted only for imports originating from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2Where the consignment originates from Bangladesh, verify applicability of Para 19 of the General Notes to the ITC (HS) 2022 as introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26. Imports from Bangladesh are subject to port restrictions specified in Para 1 of that notification; confirm whether the goods fall under any exemption in Para 2 or Para 3 before finalising the port of entry.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming the azo-dye testing exemption extends to all origins. The exemption is confined to nine named countries — EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom — and a PSIC or valid test report remains mandatory for all other origins, including Bangladesh. Consignments arriving without the required testing documentation face detention and demurrage at the port of entry pending post-landing sampling.
