The most common error on this tariff line is assuming the azo-dye testing exemption applies universally to all Western-origin shipments. The exemption is limited to nine named countries; imports from any other origin — including origins that may share free-trade arrangements with India — require a current PSIC or Textile Committee test report, and consignments arriving without one face detention and ground rent accumulation at the port of entry pending documentary compliance.
