Knitted men's and boys' nightwear and similar articles of other textile materials
HSN 6107 29 90 (men's or boys' nightshirts, pyjamas, bathrobes, dressing gowns and similar knitted articles of other textile materials) is subject to the ITC (HS) Restricted-import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), with a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate requirement covering azo-dye absence under General Note 10. Importers sourcing from Bangladesh must additionally comply with port restrictions under DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- ITC (HS) policy compliance from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, certifying absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Imports from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom are exempt from azo-dye testing only; the PSIC for other composition parameters remains required for all origins.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2If the consignment originates from Bangladesh, verify the applicable port restrictions under Para 1 of General Note 19 introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025. Confirm whether the goods fall within the exempted categories at Para 2 and Para 3 before routing the shipment.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 · General Note 19 of ITC (HS) 2022
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming that the nine-country azo-dye exemption eliminates the PSIC obligation entirely. The exemption is limited to azo-dye testing; a PSIC from an accredited laboratory covering other hazardous-dye parameters is still required for those origins. Separately, importers sourcing from Bangladesh should not route shipments before confirming port eligibility under DGFT Notification 7/2025-26, as consignments arriving at a non-notified port are liable to detention pending clearance.
