Knit shirts (other than T-shirts) and sweat shirts, other than hand crocheted
Men's or boys' cotton knit shirts, sweat shirts
HSN 6105 10 20 (knit shirts and sweat shirts of cotton, other than T-shirts) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), requiring a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate covering the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes under General Note 10. DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 additionally imposes port restrictions on imports originating from Bangladesh, subject to the exemptions stated in Paragraphs 2 and 3 of that notification.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- Port-compliance declaration from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) from an accredited laboratory in the exporting country, or a valid test report from the Textile Committee (TC) or Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSRTI), certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Imports from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom are exempt from azo-dye testing; all other origins must comply without exception.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2If the consignment originates from Bangladesh, verify applicable port restrictions under Para 19 of the General Notes introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 before routing. Consignments qualifying under the exemptions in Paragraphs 2 and 3 of that notification are not subject to the port restriction, but supporting documentation establishing exemption eligibility must be available at the bill of entry.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025 · Para 19 of General Notes, ITC (HS) 2022
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming that the azo-dye testing exemption for listed countries covers all compliance obligations — it exempts only the azo-dye test, not the PSIC itself. A consignment from an exempt origin arriving without any PSIC will still be detained pending a valid test report covering the remaining prohibited-dye parameters under General Note 10; partial compliance is treated as non-compliance at the bill of entry.
