Knitted or crocheted men's or boys' suits of cotton
HSN 6103 10 20 (Men's or boys' cotton knitted suits) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), requiring a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate confirming absence of prohibited azo dyes under General Note 10. Imports originating from Bangladesh are additionally subject to port restrictions and exemption conditions under DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from exporter
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- ITC (HS) policy declaration from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) from an accredited laboratory in the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee (TC) or CSRTI laboratory, certifying absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Testing for azo dyes is waived only for imports originating from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2For consignments originating from Bangladesh, verify applicability of para 19 of the General Notes introduced by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025. Port restrictions apply as stated in para 1 of that notification; confirm whether the consignment qualifies for the exemptions listed in paras 2 and 3 before routing the shipment.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025, para 19 of General Notes to ITC (HS) 2022
The most frequent error on this tariff line is assuming the azo-dye testing exemption extends to all origins — it applies only to the nine listed countries, and consignments from any other origin without a valid PSIC or TC/CSRTI test report face detention and potential confiscation at the port of import. For Bangladesh-origin goods, the port-restriction overlay under DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 operates independently of the azo-dye requirement; compliance with one does not discharge the other.
