Knitted or crocheted men's suits of silk
HSN 6103 10 10 (Men's or boys' knitted suits of silk) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), with a mandatory Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) requirement under General Note 10 covering the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17 May 2025 further applies port restrictions on imports originating from Bangladesh under para 19 of the General Notes to ITC (HS) 2022.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee
- ITC (HS) policy compliance from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, confirming the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes before shipment. Testing for azo dyes is exempted only for imports originating from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2If the consignment originates from Bangladesh, verify applicability of the port restrictions introduced under para 19 of the General Notes to ITC (HS) 2022 by DGFT Notification 7/2025-26. Review paras 2 and 3 of that notification to confirm whether the specific goods qualify for any exemption from those restrictions.DGFT Notification 7/2025-26 dated 17-05-2025
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming that origin from a country with a longstanding trade relationship with India exempts the consignment from the PSIC requirement. The azo-dye testing exemption is country-specific and limited to the nine named jurisdictions; consignments from all other origins — including Bangladesh, China, Sri Lanka and others — must carry a valid PSIC, and arrival without one results in consignment detention and demurrage pending rectification. The Bangladesh port-restriction overlay under para 19 is a separate and concurrent obligation that does not extinguish the PSIC requirement.
