- 2Accompany the consignment with a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, certifying absence of prohibited azo dyes. The azo-dye testing exemption applies only to imports originating from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming that any embroidery described as 'Lucknow Chikan' by the exporter satisfies the GI condition. The ITC (HS) Supplementary Note 1(b) requires that the producer be individually named as a certified user in the GI Registry against GI No. 119; a generic trade description or a letter of authenticity from the exporter does not substitute. Customs verification of GI-user status against the live registry record is the operative standard at the bill of entry.
