Cut corduroy woven pile fabrics, other varieties
HSN 5801 22 90 (cut corduroy, other) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), which requires a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate confirming the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes under General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) policy.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited lab
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- Azo-dye compliance declaration from exporter
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee (TC) or Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSRTI) laboratory, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes before the consignment is dispatched.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2Verify whether the exporting country qualifies for the azo-dye testing exemption. Only imports from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom are exempt from azo-dye testing; all other origins must furnish the PSIC at the bill of entry.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
The most common error on this tariff line is assuming that the azo-dye testing exemption available to certain named countries extends to composition or other hazardous-substance testing under General Note 10 — it does not. The exemption is confined to azo-dye presence; the PSIC covering all other prohibited-dye parameters remains mandatory regardless of the country of export, and a missing or non-accredited PSIC at the bill of entry will result in consignment detention pending document regularisation.
