- 2Accompany the consignment with a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, confirming the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Imports from EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom are exempt from azo-dye testing only.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
The Jute Import Order prohibits import of used jute bags entirely — this prohibition applies regardless of tariff classification and is enforced at the bill of entry stage; consignments that include used jute bags alongside new jute felt are subject to confiscation of the prohibited portion and monetary penalty. Importers frequently overlook that the Jute Commissioner registration is a pre-import requirement, not a post-arrival formality; registration obtained after vessel departure does not cure a Restricted-import deficiency at the port.
