Multiple (folded) or cabled
Multiple folded or cabled jute yarn
HSN 5307 20 00 (Multiple folded or cabled jute yarn) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), which imposes a port-of-entry restriction on Bangladeshi-origin consignments and a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate requirement for hazardous-dye absence. Imports originating in Bangladesh are permitted only through Nhava Sheva seaport and may not enter via any land port on the India-Bangladesh border.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from exporter
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- ITC (HS) policy compliance from DGFT
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Azo-dye testing is exempted only for imports originating in the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2For Bangladeshi-origin consignments, ensure routing exclusively through Nhava Sheva seaport; entry through any land port on the India-Bangladesh border is prohibited under DGFT Notification 21/2025-26. Note that Bangladesh goods transiting India to Nepal or Bhutan are exempt from this restriction, but re-export of such goods back into India from Nepal or Bhutan is not permitted.DGFT Notification 21/2025-26 dated 27-06-2025 · Sub-para 2 below Para 19(1) of General Notes regarding import policy
The Nhava Sheva-only restriction for Bangladeshi-origin multiple folded jute yarn is frequently overlooked at the purchase-order stage: consignments shipped to any other port — including Kolkata, which handles the bulk of India-Bangladesh textile trade — face detention and compulsory re-export at the importer's cost. Confirm the port of discharge against the DGFT Notification 21/2025-26 routing condition before vessel booking, as a corrective port change after loading is rarely available for perishable textile consignments.
