Single yarn of jute or textile bast fibres
HSN 5307 10 10 (Single yarn of jute) is subject to the ITC (HS) import policy administered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), which imposes a port-of-entry restriction and a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate requirement. Imports of single jute yarn originating in Bangladesh are permitted exclusively through Nhava Sheva seaport and may not enter via any India-Bangladesh land port.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from accredited laboratory
- Test report from Textile Committee or CSRTI
- ITC (HS) policy declaration to CBIC
- 1Obtain a Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate from an accredited laboratory of the exporting country, or a valid test report from a Textile Committee or CSRTI laboratory, certifying the absence of prohibited hazardous azo dyes. Testing for azo dyes is exempted only for imports from the EU, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom.General Note 10 of the ITC (HS) Import Policy · DGFT Public Notice 14/2023 dated 14-06-2023
- 2If the consignment originates in Bangladesh, route it exclusively through Nhava Sheva seaport. Import through any land port on the India-Bangladesh border is prohibited; re-export of Bangladesh-origin goods to India from Nepal or Bhutan is equally prohibited under the same restriction.DGFT Notification 21/2025-26 dated 27-06-2025 · Sub-para 2 below Para 19(1) of General Notes regarding Import Policy
The most common error on this tariff line is sourcing Bangladesh-origin single jute yarn through a northeastern land port on the assumption that general textile import rules apply. DGFT Notification 21/2025-26 is an absolute channel restriction, not a tariff-rate condition: a consignment arriving at any land border crossing is liable to detention and re-export regardless of whether the PSIC and all other documentation are in order. Confirm the nominated port of discharge on the purchase order before shipment.
