- 2Enter the PIMS Registration Number and its expiry date in the bill of entry at the time of filing. Customs clearance (out-of-charge) will not be granted unless these fields are populated; the PIMS regime applies to all bills of entry filed on or after 01-10-2022.DGFT Notification 11/2015-2020 dated 25-05-2022
- 3If importing into an SEZ, FTWZ, or EOU, register under PIMS at the point of entry into the zone. A DTA unit clearing unprocessed goods from the SEZ/FTWZ/EOU does not require a separate PIMS registration, but if processing has occurred with a change in 8-digit HS code and the resultant product falls under a PIMS-covered tariff line, the DTA importer must independently register under PIMS.DGFT Policy Circular 41/2015-2020 dated 05-07-2022 · DGFT Policy Circular 45/2015-2020 dated 23-01-2023
The single most common error on this tariff line is misunderstanding the registration window: the application may not be submitted earlier than 75 days before expected arrival, but missing the 5-day-before-arrival deadline leaves the importer without a valid Registration Number at the time of bill of entry filing, triggering consignment detention and demurrage at port. The 75-day validity of the Registration Number runs from grant — not from arrival — so back-to-back shipments on the same registration must be timed carefully to avoid expiry before the final bill of entry is filed.
