- 2Enter the PIMS Registration Number and its expiry date in the bill of entry at the time of filing. Failure to populate both fields will prevent customs out-of-charge, as the system requires these details to enable clearance of the consignment.DGFT Notification 11/2015-2020 dated 25-05-2022 · DGFT Policy Circular 41/2015-2020 dated 05-07-2022
- 3If importing into an SEZ, FTWZ, or EOU, obtain PIMS registration at the point of entry into the zone. A DTA clearance from an SEZ/FTWZ/EOU does not require a fresh PIMS registration unless the item has been processed with a change in 8-digit HS code and the resulting tariff line falls within the PIMS-covered list.DGFT Policy Circular 41/2015-2020 dated 05-07-2022 · DGFT Policy Circular 45/2015-2020 dated 23-01-2023
The most common error on this tariff line is applying for PIMS registration too late or too early: the application window opens only on the 75th day before expected arrival and closes on the 5th day before arrival. A registration applied for outside this window is invalid, and an expired or absent Registration Number on the bill of entry results in consignment detention and accruing demurrage at the port until a valid registration is obtained and submitted.
