The most common error on this tariff line is treating the CIB&RC registration as interchangeable with an import permit: the two instruments serve different purposes under the Insecticides Act, 1968, and an import for a non-insecticidal purpose requires a separate permit from the Registration Committee even where a general registration already exists. Additionally, import is restricted to notified places under Rule 45 of the Insecticides Rules, 1971 — routing the consignment to an unnotified port will result in detention regardless of the currency of the registration or permit.
